Dvara Trust, formerly IFMR Trust, is a private trust set-up with the mission of ensuring that every individual and every enterprise has complete to financial services. The Trust invests in and supports commercial efforts that advance this mission and works towards bringing about systemic change that impacts millions of low-income households in India. Dvara E-Registry (DER) is an agtech start up that provides a digital platform to enable different stakeholders in the agri-value chain, especially smallholder farmers, to access structured financial products and agricultural markets. DER’s platform makes it possible for banks and lending institutions to remotely undertake risk assessments as well as monitor farm activity on a real-time basis. Using remote sensing, Machine Learning (ML), and geotagged images collected through DER’s mobile app Doordrishti, DER provides granular data about each plot on which the farmer cultivates. Doordrishti caters to a wide range of requirements of farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), contract farming companies, financial institutions and other value chain players.

About the Position:

The Communications and Design Associate will play a critical role in planning, developing and executing the overall communications strategy of Dvara E-Registry and the various projects that run as part of it. Working in close coordination with other team members, the ideal candidate would need to be someone with excellent verbal communication and writing skills, is digitally savvy, self-driven and a total team player. The Communications and Design Associate will work on strategies for targeted communications, messaging, branding, marketing and outreach efforts to better reach and engage key stakeholders of importance for Dvara E-Registry, namely government bodies, State agricultural departments, agri-value chain companies, financial companies, farmer aggregates, grant making organisations and research organisations and subject-matter experts, and mass-media, as well as laypersons where required.

Tasks and Responsibilities to include:

  • Work closely with team members in planning and executing the overall outreach efforts for various subject-matter themes and projects and manage specific deliverables in reaching out to key stakeholders through relevant platforms and targeted messaging.
  • Supporting the Team Leads and Product Managers in developing interesting and interactive ways to disseminate DER’s product developments, business achievements, branding efforts and marketing strategies that may involve development of infographics, pamphlets, posters, brochures, flipbooks, videos, animations, relevant communication collaterals and multimedia projects as maybe required (with limited support of designers available in-house).
  • Undertake designing, video editing, increase brand awareness, do market research, writing and editing as required for the DER’s website, twitter, LinkedIn and other platforms.
  • Help devise creative ideas for both online and offline channels to showcase DER’s outputs and field stories in ways and forms that ensure increased visibility and recall especially amongst key external stakeholders.
  • Manage scheduling and coordinating on internal and external events that may involve hosting talks, conferences, seminars and online initiatives like tweetchats and webinars.
  • Assist in knowledge management function at DER by ensuring regular updating of relevant content through mailers and our website among others.

  • Active on social media, like to write and to create powerful stories, do videos or experiment with podcasts.
  • A high degree of self-motivation to work in an unstructured environment and an innate flair for finding constructive solutions to problems while working in team settings.
  • An eager and open mind with an ability to work and coordinate across cross-functional teams and come up with creative solutions that pushes forward our core messages.
  • Create and design various materials for print and digital collateral
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications
  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images
  • Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software
  • Plans concept by studying information and materials.
  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Completes projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
  • A very high degree of integrity and honesty in one’s dealings, and an ability to consider team’s performance to be as important as own performance.

Requirements

  • An ideal candidate will possess a relevant Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience of 3-5 years in communications, media or journalism along with graphic arts and design.
  • Ability to develop and write influential written and visual content
  • Working knowledge of Adobe suite, Illustrator Sketch, InDesign, video editing, animation software and other graphic design software would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
  • Ability to read, write and translate in regional languages such as Marathi, Odiya, Tamil, Gujrati and other regional languages would be advantageous but not a necessity.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, agribusiness, banking and financial services industry would be a plus but not a necessity.
  • Some experience working in innovation projects would be advantageous
