Amalor Pavanathan

Amalor Pavanathan has worked as the Deputy Managing Director at National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and supervised business initiatives in Rural Infrastructure Finance, Natural Resource Management Projects, Rural Farm and MSME finance, Promotion and Financing of Producer Organisations, Various Farm and Non-Farm Projects, Treasury operations, Risk Management, Finance and Accounts. Apart from other roles, in a career spanning over 15 years at NABARD, he has worked as Chief General Manager – Kerala State and Chief General Manager – Business Initiatives Department. 

Amalor is highly skilled in Credit, Rural Development, Capital Markets, Commodity and Agribusiness, and Banking. He was largely responsible for developing NABARD as the only accredited National Entity by GCF in climate finance in Asia and the Pacific. He has also served as the Chairman of NABKISAN Finance Limited, a subsidiary of NABARD and the fastest growing Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) India and the largest supplier of credit to startups Producer Organisation in Agri and rural space.

Amalor is also a member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as a part of the Commodity Development Advisory Committee. He has also been the Director at The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX).

He is an Agricultural Engineer from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, PGDM in Rural Management and Finance from IIM – Bangalore, Masters in Development Management from Asian Institute of Management, Fellow in Engineering and Charted Engineer from Institution of Engineers and is also a Chartered Associate in Banking from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
